Beginnings
Born from a passion for English wine and the huge potential in this ever more exciting space, Richard Stenton founded Midland Press in 2024 with the first vintage of wines being pressed that same year. a railway arch in central Birmingham was chosen as the ideal location, with its cave-like quality, providing cool and stable temperatures, perfect for the production and storage of wine.

Grapes
We search out the highest quality and most compelling grapes from across the middle of England. We are lucky to work with pioneering and talented growers who have chosen optimum sites in beautiful English countryside for the planting and careful tending of their vines.
Midland press has a particular focus on Pinot Noir (Précoce and classic) and pinot blanc. We also incorporate hybrid varieties that have a long history of small scale planting across the midlands.

Winemaking
Through our winemaking practices we are perfecting wine styles that shine in the marginal climate of England and that support us to bring a minimal intervention approach to the process.
Our small batch production enables a more hands on approach to our winemaking. The wines are fermented in barrels or small tanks and then aged on the lees. we hand blend from these small batches for our final products. All wines are bottled in-house by hand.
